7.8-magnitude earthquake in New Zealand's South Island, has triggered a tsunami as people flee buildings in a panic and are told to seek higher ground for safety
The quake struck around 30 miles northeast of Christchurch city after midnight local time on Monday. Tidal waves as high as 2.49 meters above usual tide levels were measured near the epicenter by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC).
